Show Notes

For our third season premiere, we introduce several episodes we are calling the Ronstadt Radio Podcast, featuring music from the Ronstadt family vault! This one starts out with Petie Ronstadt’s instrumental banjo piece, Chicago Bar Stomp, performed by Ronstadt Generations. Next, enjoy The Ronstadt Cousin’s Solamente Una Vez, a group my dad had for years with two of his first cousins. Finally we finish with the song Run Run Run Away originally recorded by Aaron Nathans & Michael G. Ronstadt, but this one is Ronstadt Brothers live in Oxford, Ohio. Enjoy!

[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:10] Speaker B: Welcome to the Ronstadt Radio Podcast, presented by the Nathan's and Roncast, hosted by me, Michael G. Ronstadt. Ever since I was a little kid, I was on the boombox, making radio shows for who knows who. I would make fake advertisements, put the CD in the boombox, and then I'd record to the cassette. It's my fourth grade voice, really high and so exuberant, but I can't help but laugh and be embarrassed all at once. So all my life I've wanted to host a little radio show and I figure, what better way than to do it in the podcast world? And I would like to play the music from my family, the Ronstadt family. Now, you all know Linda Ronstadt, but you may not know Jon Ronstadt's music from his group Round Midnight, or you may not know my family group, Ronstadt Generations, or my dad's former group, the Santa Cruz River Band, featuring Ted Ramirez. There's so much music out there and I want to share it with you. So we're going to take three songs every episode and share it with you. The first song is by Ronstadt Generations, led by Petey Ronstadt on the banjo from the Land of the Setting sun, released in 2016. Put on your seat belts and enjoy the music. If that doesn't get you moving and stomping and dancing all around, I don't know what does. That was Chicago Bar stomp, written by P.D. ronstadt from Ronstadt Generations, and it features Aaron Emery on drums, Sam Egan on upright bass. I'm on the cello, and we have Alex Flores on the saxomophone, and we have Michael J. Ronstadt on the guitar. The next song we're gonna play is by the Ronstadt Cousins. My dad had a trio with his first cousins, Jon Ronstadt and Bill Ronstadt. They had an album released in 1998 called Live in Canelo, which was actually Live in Canelo, Arizona. And this is one of the songs that we grew up hearing in our family. It features Jon Ronstadt on lead vocals and it's called Solamente Una vess. [00:06:01] Speaker A: Sa in El Corda. So. [00:07:17] Speaker B: That was Solo Mente Unueves, Performed live in 1998 by the Ronstadt cousins in Canelo, Arizona from their album Live in Canelo. Now we have one more song in our first episode of the Ronstadt Radio podcast. This one is from Ronstadt Brothers, released in 2019. It's called the Oxford EP recorded live in Oxford, Ohio, and this features PD Ronstadt, myself, Michael G. Ronstadt, and our drummer, Aaron Emry. After my dad passed away in 2016. We created Ronstadt Brothers, and I hope you enjoy our version of my song. Run, run, run away. [00:08:02] Speaker A: Sam Many, many hours in a day gone by Biting my nails, about to collide Griping with my art, Gremlins in sight Fighting my bail and Trent abides Run, run, run away the fun, fun, fun awaits Burn, burn, burn the page Turn, turn, turn the gauge Branding the sa Clean away Whispers like nails all coming my way Glimmers of white raspberry brulee Flavors my tongue Technicolor trace, Technicolor rays Many, many colors Coming out my br. Run, run, run away Fun, fun, fun awaits Burn, burn, burn the page, turn Dangerous roads and better lines Exits have vanished Been driving all night Looking at destiny Fighting to survive maybe this gravity can open my eyes sun, sun, sun at play Heal, heal, heal and save Turn, turn, turn and wake Run, run, run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away Run, run, run away. [00:11:30] Speaker B: Thank you for listening to the very first episode of the Nathan's and Roncast Ronstadt Radio Podcast. This is your host, Michael G. Ronstadt, signing off, and we'll see you at the next episode when we share three more wonderful. [00:11:45] Speaker A: Sam.
