[00:00:06] Speaker A: Hi, my name is Michael Ronstadt and you're listening to the Nathans and Roncast and this is a bonus episode featuring the amazing duo Liz and Pete. They're based out of Tucson, Arizona and Petey Ronstadt happens to be my little brother with whom I play in a duo with called Ronstadt Brothers. We have been working together for a long time because we grew up together and any project that Petey is involved in, I am 150,000,000% behind because he puts his heart and soul into everything he does. He's an amazing bass player, guitar player, tuba player, recording engineer, mastering engineer, producer. Anything he does is excellent. I want to read a little bit about Liz and Pete from their website. Liz Serapana and Peter Dalton Ronstadt join musical forces to explore material old and new. Liz's heartfelt voice and Pete's haunting harmonies and rich guitar arrangements captivate the mind and tug at the heart. After a few passing introductions in their shared musical scene, Liz Serapania joined Peter Dalton Ronstadt on stage at Monterey Court in Tucson in the fall of 2019. They had a brief opportunity to work up a couple songs, including Rodney Krause leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight. An instant musical match was realized. The decision to make a record together was easy and quickly. Liz and Pete began exploring material including the timeless songs of Alan Gar, songs of their favorite songwriters and singers, new and old compositions by Pete, as well as classic songs from his father. Michael Joseph Ronstadt's repertoire. Liz and Pete's natural element is just the two of them on stage accompanied by one acoustic guitar in the Pennsylvania stomp box. They often tour with the amazing Don Armstrong and they create a trio that is truly magnificent and powerful. Don Armstrong and the Whiskey Palions, which is a group out of Tucson, has Liz and Pete in their band and it really showcases how Tucson, Arizona has a scene and loves to share and collaborate and create music in a beautiful, wonderful, loving way. Liz and Pete recorded the feature song called Back Home to Blue at the Fox Theater Live in Tucson, Arizona. It was written by the late Alan Gar from the band the long wait and Liz Serapana was in that group as the lead singer and unfortunately, Alan was lost way too soon. Aaron Nathans and I hope you really enjoy this performance of back home to blue by Liz and Pete live at the Fox Theater. If you want to hear the original version by the band the long wait from the album back home to blue, just look it up on Bandcamp.
[00:02:55] Speaker B: Safe the shadows of this truck on humid highways the morning sun behind me bows in ever westward glow the many rows corn blur on the downside of blue hill I think it's always been this way and I guess it always will I saw this easy river flow last time in winter woke up this morning bird a Memphis summer flow coming back across I always notice subtle grace and the Mississippi river says the temple and the I'm going far away I'm going far away oh, I'm going far away it's always good to get away but better still come back home, back home to blue.
If absence makes the heart grow fonder I reckon these little journeys do their part to work for all of us because when you leave the summer drip from green and I still bend and that nation we're golden when you come back in the fall, you're going far away I'm going far away oh, I'm going far away always good to get away but better still come back home, back home to whoa.
The many rows of corn blur on the downside of the blue hill I think it's always been this way and I guess it always will.
